Albany New York's premier early eighties punk band The Extras have released their debut album "Ugly American" this Fall of 2002, twenty years after it was recorded! The Extras were one of the favorites of Albany's golden era, when the drinking age was still 18 and a band could find a thirsty audience any night of the week. Their no nonsense, driving rock and roll, propelled by drummer George Lipscomb and guitarist Eric Van Sleet, simply got the crowd going. But perhaps what set them apart were the lyrics of bassist/singer Mark DeForge. The songs have the ability to be subversive without beating you to death telling you they are, and to be anthems without relying on mere sloganeering. With the twenty year anniversary approaching the tapes were dragged out of the archives and George, Eric and Mark all agreed they sounded great. So for the first time on CD, a format that didn't even exist when these songs were recorded, The Extras!
